External Affairs Office: Summary of Activities and Accomplishments (SY 2023-2024)

The FEU Cavite External Affairs Office (EAO) formally began its operations on July 1, 2023. The office is divided into four units, namely: (1) Alumni, (2) Placement, (3) Internationalization, and (4) Marketing & Communications. Its main purpose is to ensure that different projects and activities will be developed and implemented in coordination with external partners (local and international) with the support of internal stakeholders. On its maiden year, the EAO was able to launch various collaborative activities that established external linkages as well as internal engagements.

 

The report below summarizes the various projects and activities that the EAO spearheaded and/or participated in.

 

  1. Alumni– The EAO made significant strides in engaging with the FEU Cavite Alumni.
    • The EAO collaborated with the FEU Alumni Relations Office and was able to successfully launch the FEU Alumni Card. The said Alumni Card does not merely function as an ID, it also serves as a ticket to various perks and discounts among different partner establishments.
    • We successfully conducted the “KwenTAMbuhay” Alumni Gathering last October 7, 2023, which paved the way in the election of the interim FEU Cavite Alumni Association Officers. We also co-organized the FEU Cavite Alumni Association’s “Concert for a Cause” on February 17, 2024. These events fostered a sense of community and connection among our alumni.
  2. Placement– The EAO was able to implement placement activities that reflect our commitment to supporting our students and alumni in their career development and ensuring their readiness to navigate the professional world.
    • On May 23, 2024, we successfully planned, prepared, implemented, and evaluated the “KwenTAMBayan: Career Forum with the FEU Cavite Alumni”. This event was designed to provide our graduating students with insights into the professional world and prepare them for their career journey. The forum featured a lecture provided by the DOLE CALABARZON, which educated our students about their rights and responsibilities as workers. This knowledge is crucial in ensuring that they are aware of their entitlements and obligations in the workplace. Additionally, our students also learned the basics of job interviews through Jobs180.com. This session equipped them with the necessary skills to present themselves effectively and confidently during job interviews.
    • Meanwhile, on May 24, 2024, the EAO successfully collaborated with the SILANG PESO (Philippine Employment Service Office) to implement CAREER FAIR 2024. This event was open to the general public and served as a platform for job seekers and employers to connect and explore opportunities. In addition to job placements, the fair also provided participants with the opportunity to access and apply for government documents and IDs. This included the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), Home Development Mutual Fund (PAGIBIG), Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth), Social Security System (SSS), and Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA). This initiative aimed to make these essential services more accessible to our community.
  3. Internationalization– The EAO office has been instrumental in fostering international relations. We successfully implemented inbound and outbound internationalization activities with Sekolah Pelita Utama (SPU)in Batam, Indonesia, and I-Shou University in Kaohsiung City, Taiwan. These internationalization activities reflect our commitment to providing our students and staff with global exposure and opportunities for cross-cultural learning.
    • From July 20 to 25, 2023, our office provided support and assistance to the Hospitality Departmentduring their participation in the 2nd International Pastry Competition held in Batam, Indonesia. This event showcased the culinary talents of our students on an international platform and provided them with invaluable exposure and experience.
    • We extended assistance to the FEU Manila Institute of Educationin the deployment of SEA Teachers Project Batch 9 at FEU Cavite BED from September 18 to October 12, 2023. This project, organized by the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization, aimed to enhance the teaching skills and cultural understanding of our educators.
    • From November 12 to 19, 2023, we successfully implemented an inbound internationalization activity with Sekolah Pelita Utama (SPU)in Batam, Indonesia. A total of 23 students and 5 teachers from SPU participated in this program, which fostered cultural exchange and mutual learning.
    • On March 14, 2024, we successfully conducted the signing of a Memorandum of Understandingbetween FEU Cavite Philippines and Aoike Academy Japan. This agreement marked a significant step in our commitment to fostering international collaborations and partnerships.
    • From April 14 to 23, 2024, we successfully implemented an outbound internationalization activity at I-Shou Universityin Kaohsiung City, Taiwan. A delegation of 10 SHS, 10 College students, and 4 teachers/administrators from our institution participated in this program, gaining firsthand experience of Taiwanese culture and education.
  4. Marketing and Communications- The EAO was able to plan and implement various marketing and communication activities, which reflect our office’s commitment to promoting our institution, fostering collaborations, and providing essential services to our community.
    • We have improved and updated our website and social media accounts. In total, we were able to create and publish more than 1,000 posts across the different Social Media Platforms (i.e. Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, and Youtube)
    • On September 9, 2023, we successfully collaborated with the Arts Research and Training Institute in Southern Tagalog, Incorporated (ARTIST, Inc.) to facilitate the 10th Malikhaing Guro International Conference Caravan on Culture-based Education. This event was a testament to our commitment to promoting culture-based education and fostering collaborations with esteemed institutions.
    • On September 30, 2023, we successfully organized and implemented a “Graphics Essentials” seminar workshop among the student leaders of FEU Cavite. This workshop aimed to equip our student leaders with essential graphic design skills, enhancing their ability to communicate visually and effectively.
    • In October 2023, we successfully organized a National ID application and processing on campus in coordination with the Philippine Statistics Authority and the Silang LGU. This initiative aimed to make the ID application process more accessible to our students and staff, demonstrating our commitment to providing essential services to our community.
    • We collaborated with the Silang LGU Municipal Tourism Office in the development of the “Silang Christmas Village”, which was unveiled on November 30, 2023. This project showcased the vibrant culture and festive spirit of our community, and our office played a key role in its promotion and communication.
    • Our office is at the forefront of FEU Cavite’s 15th Founding Anniversary activities. We designed, produced, and distributed FEU Cavite’s 15th Founding Anniversary Commemorative Calendar as well as the “#FAB15 Forward and Beyond”
    • We assisted the FEU Cavite HED Student Organization “Likha” in coordinating with the Silang LGU to exhibit their artworks at the Silang Municipal Hall. The artworks, created by our talented FEU Cavite students, were on display from February 12 to 16, 2024. This initiative showcased the creativity of our students and enhanced our community’s appreciation for the arts.
    • Our office designed, produced, and installed the FEU Cavite promotional material in collaboration with Silang LGU. This included a footbridge signage along the Silang bypass road, which served to increase the visibility of our institution in the community.
    • We successfully collaborated with BPI in the installation of an Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) inside the College Building. This initiative aimed to provide convenient banking services to our students and staff, demonstrating our commitment to meeting their needs.
