Talakayan ng Kasaysayan at Kalikasan: A Collaborative Forum for Heritage and Environment

August 15, 2025 — FEU Cavite

In a meaningful effort to promote historical awareness and environmental stewardship among the youth, the Silang Historical Society, in partnership with FEU Cavite, and with the support of the Cavite Studies Center, and the Silang Municipal Tourism Office, successfully launched the Talakayan ng Kasaysayan at Kalikasan (Forum on History and Nature) at the FEU Cavite Basic Education Department.

This initiative gathered students, educators, and advocates of history, nature, and culture to engage in discussions on pressing environmental and historical issues relevant to the local community. The event served as a platform to deepen understanding and encourage active participation in preserving both heritage and natural resources—values essential to shaping a sustainable and culturally rooted future.

The forum featured a lineup of esteemed speakers who shared their insights and expertise:

  • Cavite Board Member Hon. Aidel Belamide
  • Ar. Maxine Loyola Naval
  • Sir Gervi Destura
  • Sir David Paul Cervantes
  • Ms. Merinel Telesforo
  • Sir Leonilo Batino
  • Dr. Jan Phillip Mallari
  • Sir Phillip Medina

Their contributions enriched the dialogue and inspired participants to take part in safeguarding both the cultural and ecological legacy of Cavite.

The Talakayan ng Kasaysayan at Kalikasan marks a significant step in building collaborative efforts among institutions and communities. It highlights the importance of educating the next generation about the intertwined roles of history and nature in shaping identity and progress. As we move forward, may this forum serve as a reminder of our shared responsibility to learn, protect, and nurture the heritage and environment of our beloved Silang and the greater Cavite region.

Let us continue the journey of knowledge and care for our community. 💚🇵🇭
