FEU Cavite lends a hand to PDLs at Silang BJMP

On March 7, 2025, members of the 16th Founding Anniversary Committee delivered hygiene kits to the Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) at Silang Municipal Jail. During the discussions with JO3 Cyril Rivera, Chief Welfare and Development, she mentioned that such seemingly simple personal items are very important to the PDLs. The said gifts were purchased using the collected donations from ChariTree 2024 amounting to Php 17,300. The distribution was attended by Dr. Matthew M. Nepomuceno (External Affairs Officer & Chair of the 16th Founding Anniversary Committee), Mr. Reynald Alfred G. Sy (NSTP Teacher), Ms. Abby Sapitanan (HED Student Affairs Coordinator), Ms. Barbara Isidoro-Umandap (BED Student Affairs Coordinator), and Ms. Jena Niña Kyla Vicente (HED Student Council President).

The administrators of Silang Municipal Jail, JO3 Cyril Rivera, Chief Welfare and Development, and JCINSP Gechris Abanilla, Jail Warden, welcomed the FEU Cavite contingent, ensuring the smooth facilitation of the event and expressing their gratitude for the support provided to the PDLs.
ChariTree is an annual donation drive conducted by FEU Cavite during the Christmas season, focusing on spreading joy and support to various communities. For this year, the committee decided to uplift the spirits and well-being of the PDLs. The collective efforts of the FEU Cavite community made the distribution of essential hygiene items possible.

The ChariTree2024 event at Silang Municipal Jail highlights one of FEU Cavite’s core values: Compassion—extending a helping hand to those who are often overlooked. FEU Cavite believes that as an educational institution in the municipality of Silang, such socio-civic initiatives can help in building a more inclusive and caring society.
