FEU Cavite + Silang PESO = Career Fair 2024
May 23, 2024–FEU Cavite and the Silang Public Employment Services Office (PESO) collaborated to facilitate the two-day Career Fair 2024, which primarily aims to provide employment opportunities both for fresh graduates as well as for seasoned employees. Day 1 of the said event is exclusively designed for the graduating students of FEU Cavite.
The 1st Session in the morning highlighted the rights and responsibilities of employees, which is a very important topic, especially for graduating students. This was discussed by Ms. Anne Marie Faye M. Gloria, Labor and Employment Officer III (Department of Labor and Employment, Cavite Provincial Office).
Meanwhile, the 2nd session focused on Job Application Tips, particularly about preparing impactful resume (specifically through the Jobs180.com resume link), power dressing, and effectively engaging in job interviews. Mr. Kim Chua, Managing Director of Jobs180.com facilitated the discussion.
Finally, Day 1 was concluded by the KwenTAMBayan: Career Forum with the Alumni. The said event provided an avenue for sharing of experiences and insights from reputable FEU Cavite Tamaraws who are now gainfully employed and/or successful in their respective fields. The speakers of this activity are Mr. Juan Emilio Castañeda, BSBA Marketing Management Batch 2015, who is the Chief Operating Officer of 13S Logistics Services and business owner of (1) J&B Auto Care (Imus, Kawit, and Bacoor Branches), Smile Hotpot Philippines, Café Leblanq, Numba Juan Signages, and MKY Entertainment; Mr. Louis Miguel Ilustrisimo, AEM, BS Tourism Management Batch 2014, who is the Tourism Officer of the Municipality of Alfonso, Cavite; Mr. Brian Jayson Umandap, BS Information Technology Batch 2015, who is a Senior IT Officer at the Department of Transportation; and Mr. Christian Howell Gerez, RPM, RGC, MA, BS Psychology Batch 2017, Top 7 of the 2017 Psychometrician Licensure Examination, Top 3 of the 2023 Guidance Counselors Licensure Examination, who is a Guidance Counselor at De La Salle Medical and Health Sciences Institute. It was a nostalgic and insightful afternoon as the Alumni reminisced their years as a student at FEU Cavite and they generously shared their experiences and tips to the soon-to-be members of the FEU Cavite Alumni Community.
May 24, 2024–Day 2 of the FEU Cavite and Silang PESO Career Fair 2024 highlights the actual application process. The Career Fair 2024 will bring together various companies who are offering different employment opportunities to qualified individuals. Another important highlight of Day 2 is the arrival of government offices, which will help jobseekers to apply for necessary government IDs. The (1) Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), (2) Social Security System (SSS), (3) PAGIBIG, (4) PhilHealth, and (5) Philippine Statistics Office (PSA) will be accommodating queries and applications of all job seekers. BPI Silang is also present to assist job applicants with their banking needs.
It is important to note that since this project is a collaboration with the Local Government of Silang, Cavite, Day 2 of Career Fair 2024 is OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. Job applicants are reminded to bring copies of their updated resumes. Meanwhile, for those who will apply for government IDs are reminded to bring copies of their Identification. Applicants are advised to secure a copy of their Barangay Clearance.
