FEU Cavite recently hosted students and teachers from Koshi High School, Japan for a two-day inbound internationalization activity held on October 19-20, 2026, strengthening global partnerships and fostering intercultural understanding through academic immersion, cultural exchange, and educational tours.
The visit provided both the Koshi High School delegation and members of the FEU Cavite community with valuable opportunities to learn from one another, celebrate cultural diversity, and build lasting international friendships.
Day 1: Cultural Exchange and Academic Immersion
The two-day inbound internationalization activity officially commenced on October 19, 2026, as FEU Cavite warmly welcomed the delegation from Koshi High School, Japan. The opening program, held at the BED PE Room, set the tone for a meaningful exchange of cultures, ideas, and educational experiences between Filipino and Japanese learners.
The delegation was formally welcomed through the Opening Remarks of Dr. Myrna P. Quinto, Executive Director of FEU Cavite, who emphasized the importance of international partnerships in advancing global citizenship and cross-cultural understanding among students.
This was followed by a Welcome Message from Dr. Ildefonso R. Fulgar II, College Dean, who expressed the University’s enthusiasm in hosting the Japanese visitors and underscored the value of educational exchanges in fostering mutual respect and collaborative learning.
To provide context for the visit and FEU Cavite’s global engagement initiatives, Dr. Matthew M. Nepomuceno, External Affairs Officer, presented an Overview of the University’s Internationalization Program, highlighting FEU Cavite’s commitment to building international partnerships and creating opportunities for students to develop a global perspective through intercultural experiences.
The program also featured the introduction of the student participants and their designated student buddies, followed by cultural presentations by Senior High School students that showcased the traditions, talents, and heritage of the Philippines. These performances created opportunities for participants to appreciate each other’s cultures while building connections beyond the classroom.
The day’s activities were spearheaded by Ms. Cristine Joy Baluyot-Buladas, Senior High School Coordinator, together with FEU Cavite Senior High School students and faculty members. Through interactive engagements and guided discussions, the participants exchanged insights about their school life, customs, and aspirations, fostering meaningful intercultural dialogue and friendship.
Following the welcome program, the Koshi High School delegation participated in a Basic Education Campus Tour led by Senior High School student buddies, providing the visitors with a glimpse of FEU Cavite’s learning facilities and campus environment. A set of delicious Filipino dishes were prepared by the Hospitality Management Students and faculty members led by Ms. Pamela Rivera, CABMT College Chair.
After lunch, the delegation proceeded to the College Building for class immersion activities in the programs of Hospitality Management, Information Technology, Nursing, and Psychology. These classroom visits enabled the Japanese students to observe academic instruction, interact with FEU Cavite students, and experience the University’s learner-centered educational environment firsthand.
The first day concluded with closing activities that celebrated the success of the cultural exchange and the new friendships forged between the Koshi High School delegation and the FEU Cavite community, reaffirming the shared commitment of both institutions to international understanding and educational collaboration.
Day 2: Discovering Philippine History and Heritage
On October 20, 2026, the delegation embarked on a Manila Education Tour facilitated by Prof. Christlie Medenilla and FEU Cavite’s Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management students.
The educational excursion began at the National Museum, where participants explored exhibits showcasing the Philippines’ rich history, culture, and artistic heritage. The group then proceeded to Fort Santiago, one of Manila’s most significant historical landmarks, before taking a guided walk to the iconic San Agustin Church, a UNESCO-recognized cultural treasure and one of the country’s oldest stone churches.
Throughout the tour, Tourism Management students served as guides and cultural ambassadors, sharing historical narratives and providing visitors with a deeper understanding of Philippine heritage. The activity also enabled students to apply their tourism and guiding competencies in an authentic intercultural setting.
The delegation returned to FEU Cavite in the afternoon, bringing with them meaningful experiences and a greater appreciation of the Philippines’ cultural and historical legacy.
